from Barbados to London
it's been a hot minute since I shared a blogpost, and I thought after some months of finally being able to open my store doors that it's only fitting to share a few words with my TRUPERS! The last time I wrote on the blog, I was still in Barbados! x.x
it's been a whirlwind behind the scenes (hence my absence) but I'm not going to let that keep me away because if I did, I'd never show face again - having a brand is about expecting the unexpected and adapting to make it work, so here we are! I won't bore you with the details...
so being back in London has been amazing! Every single day I catch myself in awe that I am actually here.. in London... with a store... in Boxpark! Like wow, I really am super proud of myself and I get even more excited because this is just the beginning for TRU!
coming back to London was different this time round, I’ve never been one to suffer from jet-lag after like 3 days but this time round… wow. I was jet-lagged for close to 3 weeks! (it might or might not have had something to do with starting The Handmaid's Tale and binge watching it til 5am) regardless, it kicked my ass! I was lucky enough to have my close friend and now flatmate Shannon with me - I literally don’t know what I’d do without her!
after our quarantine, we made it a point to go out on a day somewhere new to get some steps in and eat from new places (takeout style cos it was still lockdown). So another lockdown birthday was had, is it just me who thinks lockdown birthdays are better??? I had the most amazing day thanks to Shannon and my family and friends who made me feel so special, even though we were in lockdown.
then it came time to re-open the TRU doors at Boxpark! I was so beyond excited and overwhelmed with happiness that I could finally get back in store surrounded by my designs and meeting new and returning TRUPERS! The response has been amazing so far and I can’t wait to have our launch party! (hoping for next month, fingers crossed). I’ve got much planned and I can’t wait to share everything!
part from the shop, London has been slowly re-opening and you may or may not know, but Shannon and I are foooodies! iykyk! so we were so happy to have restaurants back open to continue working our way through the very long list of places to go! My favourite so far has to be Emilia’s pasta - I can’t even put into words how good our dinner was! If you get the chance to go, go! & order alllll the pasta - it’s honestly so good!
the shop has been open for almost 10 weeks & so much has happened in that time!! I’ve even launched a new sister brand to TRU called JOJAX which specialises in unisex tees with custom prints, this is something I’ve wanted to do for some time now and finally decided to take the leap and do it! The response has been amazing so far and I’m excited for what’s to come!
look out for the next blogpost where I’ll be sharing the new capsule collection!
but until then, here are a few of my faves for this month! love always, em. x
